The Goughnuts ring was the last toy standing.
Let's kill the word "indestructible" right now. Give a motivated 70-lb dog enough time and there's no toy on earth they can't eventually wreck. The honest question isn't whether a toy survives forever — it's how long it lasts, and whether it fails safely.
Our lead chewer for this test was a foster Pit mix named Dozer who reduced a "tough" plush toy to stuffing in under four minutes. Everything here went through him, plus a German Shepherd and a Lab with a gulping problem we had to watch closely.
We bought 12 toys marketed for aggressive chewers and retired any that cracked into a sharp or swallowable piece. These five made it.

About
The Goughnuts ring was the last toy standing. What sets it apart is the red rubber core: when your dog chews far enough to expose it, that's your signal to take it away — a built-in safety line none of the others have. Ours took months of abuse, and Goughnuts will replace it free if a dog ever does chew through.

If your dog wants something soft, the Tuffy Mega Boomerang is the toughest plush we've found.
For most power chewers, the Goughnuts ring is the one to beat — the safety-indicator core is genuinely smart. The KONG Extreme belongs in every chewer's rotation for its stuff-and-freeze trick, and the Nylabone is the cheap workhorse that keeps jaws busy between the good stuff.
No, and any brand that promises otherwise is overselling. A strong, motivated chewer can eventually damage anything. The realistic goal is a toy that lasts a long time and fails safely — wearing down gradually rather than cracking into a sharp or swallowable piece.

About
The KONG Extreme isn't truly indestructible, but it's the most useful toy here. Stuff it with peanut butter, freeze it overnight, and you've bought yourself 45 minutes of quiet. The black Extreme rubber is the toughest KONG makes. Keep a bottle brush handy — cleaning the cavity is the only annoyance.

About
West Paw's Hurley is the pick if you want durability you can also throw. It floats, bounces unpredictably, and shrugs off moderate chewing, and West Paw will replace it once if your dog damages it. A truly committed chewer can eventually work the rounded ends, so it's a fetch-and-supervise toy, not a leave-them-alone one.

About
The Nylabone Power Chew is the budget workhorse. It won't entertain like a stuffed KONG, but for a few dollars it gives a persistent chewer something legal to gnaw, and the textured nubs help scrape plaque. It wears down to a nub you'll need to replace, and it's too hard for dogs that try to swallow chunks — supervise gulpers.

If your dog wants something soft, the Tuffy Mega Boomerang is the toughest plush we've found. Multiple stitched layers and webbing let it survive tug-of-war that shreds ordinary soft toys. Be realistic, though: no plush is chew-proof, and a determined dog will eventually find the squeaker.
